PR N°49 - Denver prevail in FIBA 3x3 World Tour Mexico DF Masters

MEXICO DF (2015 FIBA 3x3 World Tour) - Team Denver (USA) won the 2015 FIBA 3x3 World Tour Mexico DF Masters in overtime after a thrilling final (21-19) against NY Harlem (USA), who will join them at the World Tour Final in Abu Dhabi on 15-16 October.

Tournament MVP Paris Kyles admitted he made the biggest shots of his career after nailing a long buzzer-beater to send the final to overtime and hitting a desperation shot to win the game for Denver. He scored 9 points overall in the title game. His team-mate Derek 'Vanilla Gorilla' Griffin – one of only nine players ever to play in all four editions of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour – added 5 and led all scorers at the event.

NY Harlem came up short in their second consecutive overtime game of the day, following their semi-final upset of the 2014 FIBA 3x3 World Tour runners-up Saskatoon (CAN). Kevin Josey had 7 points and ‘Super Dave’ Seagers contributed 5 in the losing effort.

Ottawa’s Osvaldo Jeanty won another nail-biter at the Shoot-Out Contest, taking home the trophy for one second against countryman Nolan Brudehl (Saskatoon).

Another Canadian shined in Mexico DF on the campus of UNAM, the largest university in Latin America, as Justin ‘JusFly’ Darlington defeated the shortest pro dunker in the world Porter Maberry in the final of the Dunk Contest.

Denver took home the US $10,000 winning prize while NY Harlem won US $4,000. Both teams qualified for the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final, which is hosted in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on 15-16 October, where they join Novi Sad Al Wahda (UAE), Manila North (PHI), Kranj (SLO), Kolobrzeg (POL), Doha (QAT), Ljubljana (SLO), Vilnius (LTU) and Trbovlje (SLO).
