Newcomers on Sao Paulo DC’s plate after Americas Masters seeding

MEXICO CITY (2016 FIBA 3x3 World Tour) – Number one seed Sao Paulo DC (BRA) will face two World Tour rookie teams in the pool phase following the automatic seeding of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Americas Masters, which will be staged on 24-25 September in the Perisur shopping mall in Mexico City.

The Debrecen Masters quarter-finalists are set to meet the first-ever Egyptian and Chilean teams to play at the World Tour (Alexandria and Temuco respectively) in Pool A.

Like it is the case in all World Tour events, the seeding is conducted automatically according to the 3x3 individual World ranking (of the three best players from each team).  According to the FIBA 3x3 regulations, teams are seeded as follows:

If Sao Paulo DC make it to the quarter-finals, they are guaranteed to finish in the Top 12 in the World Tour season standings and therefore qualify for the Abu Dhabi Final on 27-28 October.

Pool B should be exciting to watch with Team Chicago, who won the US National Trials and will represent the USA in the FIBA 3x3 World Championships in Guangzhou, China on 11-15 October. Throw in the mix Rio Preto (BRA) who will feature Douglas Motta and Fabio 'Frog' Santos, who both played at the World Tour Final last year and Loja (ECU).

Local favourites Mexico DF (MEX) will headline Pool C, which will also include Buenos Aires (ARG) starring the high-flying Rodolfo Di Biase and Mogi das Cruzes (BRA).

25-year-old Jefferson Socas will lead Joinville (BRA) in Pool D. La Plata (ARG) and the second team from Chile (Talca) will complete the pool.

For those not attending the games (free entrance) – the games will be available from 13.15 local time (GMT-5) on Saturday live on FIBA 3x3's official YouTube channel and Facebook Live. The top-two placed teams from each pool advance to a standard knock-out round which starts at the quarter-finals stage, from 13.30 local time on Sunday.
