FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2018 winners Novi Sad to compete in Chengdu, Montreal and Los Angeles Masters

MIES (Switzerland) – Three-time FIBA 3x3 World Tour winners Novi Sad (SRB) chose to play at the Chengdu, Montreal and Los Angeles Masters following the World Tour Masters draft.

For the third straight year, the top 8 teams in the FIBA 3x3 Team Ranking at the start of the season (also known as the hard-seeded teams) were given a direct access to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, according to the World Tour handbook.

The hard-seeded teams were allocated in pairs to the different Masters in this order:

- Top 1 & 8: Masters A
- Top 2 & 7: Masters B
- Top 3 & 6: Masters C
- Top 4 & 5: Masters D
- Top 1 & 6: Masters E
- Top 2 & 5: Masters F
- Top 3 & 4: Masters G
- Top 1 & 7: Masters H
- Top 2 & 8: Masters I
- Top 1 & 3: Masters  J

In other words,

- Every Masters gets 2 hard-seeded teams.
- Only the top 4 teams in the Ranking had an opportunity to pick a Masters; the teams ranked 5 to 8 were automatically seeded where the teams ranked 1 to 4 opted to play.
- The team ranked 1st  will automatically play in 4 Masters.
- The teams ranked 2nd and 3rd will automatically play in 3 Masters.
- The teams ranked 4th to 8th will automatically play in 2 Masters.

The number one team in the Ranking Liman (SRB) opened the draft by using their first pick to compete in the first-ever Doha Masters.

The number 8 squad in the Ranking – Ljubljana (SLO) – also won a direct berth to the Doha Masters.

Last year's winners Novi Sad (SRB) selected another brand new event, the Los Angeles Masters with the second pick.

The number 7 squad in the FIBA 3x3 Team Ranking – Zemun (SRB) – will join the reigning World Tour winners in the US  in a possible rematch of the final of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Bloomage Beijing Final 2017.

Riga  Ghetto (LAT) chose the Mexico City Masters with their third pick.

The number 6 squad in the FIBA 3x3 Team Ranking – Princeton (USA) – also got a direct spot to the Mexican capital after falling short in the semi-finals last year.

Amsterdam (NED) used the fourth pick on the Saskatoon Masters, where they will be joined by Piran (SLO)

Liman (SRB)  used their second pick and 5th pick overall on the Lausanne Masters after losing to Novi Sad last year in the final.

This means the number 6 team in the ranking Princeton also gets to fly to Lausanne for the first time.

Novi Sad went with Montreal with their second personal pick and 6th pick overall.

As a result Piran also earned a ticket to Canada.

With their second pick, Riga (LAT) opted to go to Nanjing. Amsterdam (NED) will join them in the Chinese city.

With their 3rd pick, Liman (SRB) decided to go to Prague, where they lost last year in the quarter-finals. FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2017 winners Zemun will join them in the Czech capital.

Old rivals Novi Sad and Ljubljana will meet again, this time in the Chengdu Masters, as the Serbian squad chose to go to China with their 3rd pick.

Riga will be back in Debrecen after reaching their first-ever Masters final there last year thanks to Liman's last pick.

The teams will now look to earn their ticket to more Masters via the World Tour qualifiers (premium international Challengers and national quests).
