Olympic feel at The Hague 3x3 Challenger

THE HAGUE (FIBA 3x3 World Tour) - There will be a bit of Copacabana in The Hague as some of the best 3x3 teams in the world battle it out on the site of the "Olympic Experience" for two tickets to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour on 18-19 August.

The Olympic Experience is a big event on The Hague beach during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. During the competition, all the Olympic sports are showcased along the beach: a perfect location for a 3x3 event of this magnitude, whose two finalists will play at the Debrecen Masters on 7-8 September.

Among the 16 participating teams coming from 3 continents, 10 have World Tour experience. One even won the whole thing back in 2013.

Team Ljubljana (SLO) will be the heavy favourites in The Hague after winning the 3rd Masters of the season in Prague on 6-7 August. Tallinn FINFUN (EST) and Nicosia TALENTOCY (CHY) will face them in Pool A, along with Maribor (SLO), who have already clinched qualification for the Lausanne Masters next week.

Team Amsterdam (NED) is the team to watch in Pool B, with all four players representing the Netherlands in national team competition such as the FIBA 3x3 European Championships, coming in two weeks. Winnipeg (CAN), Moscow Magazine (RUS) and Kaunas – 4in1 (LTU) complete the pool.

All the way from Brazil 'Sao Paulo DC/Wheaton'(BRA) will sure feel at home in the Brazilian atmosphere of The Hague Beach Stadium. The Brazilian team will compete with Aachen – Der Stamm (GER) who added the Prague Masters most spectacular player Zeljko Palavra to their team. Two Dutch teams complete Pool C: Zwolle Allball RC and Team The Hague, featuring former Dutch basketball internationals Chip Jones and Patrick Hilliman.

After competing at the Prague Masters, Team Utrecht (NED) will look for a second chance at the World Tour, with their big man dunk machine Bas 'The Mountain' Rozendaal. Also featuring in Pool D: another team that was on display in Prague (Ostrava BO!!! (CZE), together with MARL TT&SHITBEMTI (GER) and Malmö Blouses (SWE).

The winners will get 4,000 USD prize money, while the runner-ups will be rewarded with 1,000 USD.
