Top 10 players to watch at FIBA 3x3 Constanta Masters 2023

CONSTANTA (Romania) - There is no time for a breather on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2023 with stars galore ready to unleash at the Constanta Masters on September 9-10. 

Here are 10 players you just have to watch. 

Worthy de Jong (Amsterdam HiPRO)

With rival Strahinja Stojacic absent on the World Tour 2023 for the first time, de Jong will enter Constanta as surely the best player. 

Having watched this flying Dutchman repeatedly put on a show through his insane athleticism, the eye test tells us this.

And so do the stats with de Jong averaging an utterly insane 9.3 ppg on the World Tour. Look that stat up if you don't believe me. 

While it's been an outrageous individual season for de Jong, team success has somewhat eluded Amsterdam on the World Tour. They keep tripping up at the quarters having lost five of six at that stage this season.

The 6ft. 4in (1.93m) de Jong will be aiming to change that as he strives to prove why he's the best player in Constanta. 

 

Jonas Foerts (Antwerp TOPdesk) 

The 26-year-old proved his MVP in Lausanne was no flash in the pan with a solid effort in Debrecen, where he averaged 6.5 ppg and helped Antwerp make the semis. 

Foerts has well and truly cemented his standing as a 3x3 star and deadly marksman on the World Tour, shooting 36% on twos. 

It's perhaps unfair to expect him to reproduce his heroics from the Olympic capital, where he top-scored with 43 points and finished No.1 in player value (46.1). 

But Foerts is well and truly capable of making it rain whenever he steps on the half-court. 

 

Modestas Kumpys (Raudondvaris Hoptrans)

The 6ft. 4in (1.94m) high-flyer might be on the Mount Rushmore of 3x3 dunkers and you get plenty of opportunities to see him rattle the rims with Kumpys having thrown down 18 slams in 31 games on this season's pro circuit. 

Get ready because Modestas Kumpys is about to activate 'Flight Mode' in Constanta.

 

Quincy Diggs (Vienna)

Because they've only played three events, highly-rated Vienna sits ninth on the World Tour standings. 

They get a chance to climb up the ladder in Constanta and to that they'll need their star Quincy Diggs to unload. 

The 6ft. 6in (1.98m) Diggs is averaging 6.1 ppg and 38% from 2 in a solid second season. But he well knows he can go to an even higher level and if the American does that then Vienna might be getting the W they desperately want. 

Stefan Kojic (Liman Huishan NE)

The legendary Serb might never have been better having averaged an absurd 8.3 ppg on the pro circuit, repeatedly hitting daggers. 

The sniper hasn't quite been as deadly on the World Tour with an average of 6.4 ppg as Liman has struggled since a runners-up finish in Macau. 

Back in the line-up, a refreshed Kojic should be ready to fire on all cylinders and that spells trouble for opponents. 

Nesta Agasi (Utrecht)

It's a welcome to the  World Tour 2023 for Utrecht, who have had to find a different avenue to buckets this season after the departure of de Jong. 

Their most exciting player is 23-year-old  Nesta Agasi, who has taken time to get going on the pro circuit but shown glimpses of his potential. And we've all had our jaws drop at his crazy athleticism. 

The 6ft. 7in (2m) Agasi also has the length to shoot over defenders and boasts a deadly inside-outside game. He's a menace on D too and we're tipping Constanta could well be his breakout party. 

 

Henry Caruso (Princeton)

An American 3x3 star has been born with bucket getter Henry Caruso maybe the breakout player in 2023.

The skilful Caruso has a deep bag, making him almost impossible to stop. The 25-year-old is averaging 6.3 ppg on the pro circuit, where he has already tasted title success. 

If he heats up Constanta then Princeton might be ending their long title drought on the World Tour. 

 

Vladimir Trajkovic (Hangzhou)

Any talk of breakout players and we just have to mention Vladimir Trajkovic, who has ignited dangerous Hangzhou. 

He's averaging 5.6 ppg on the pro circuit and loves nothing more than firing up twos. If he's feeling it then Trajkovic can make the half-court appear like it's a video game. 

The Serb has adjusted to 3x3 quickly and is ready to continue his fast rise. 

 

Natan/Thomas Jurkovitz (Fribourg)  

The Jurkovitz bros might just be the strongest combo in Constanta. 

They often make the paint their personal playground with Natan likely to throw down a ridiculous dunk, while Thomas loves dominating the boards. 

They are the heart and soul of Fribourg, who loom as a dark horse threat in Constanta. If one doesn't provide the smackdown, the other will.
